Entering PROPER feels like walking into a movie.
Warm lighting, good music, velvet banquettes, marble tables, mahogany paneling, and leather chairs set the tone. The design draws inspiration from Italian modernism of the ‘60s and ’70s and the many restaurants that previously called this address home.
The intimate dining room wraps around an open kitchen buzzing with action.
The cuisine is inspired by the Italian kitchens of New York, but PROPER belongs wholly to Toronto, and unmistakably to Roncesvalles, a neighbourhood known for its friendliness and sense of community.
We hope that PROPER will be the setting for your scene.
Dietary Restrictions
As a fully scratch restaurant, PROPER is well equipped to feed our friends who have dietary restrictions.
None of our sauces are thickened with flour, so all of our meat and fish except for chicken parmesan is gluten free. We can deliver gluten-free versions of all of our pastas except our ravioli. Lots of our other dishes are gluten-free or can be tweaked to be gluten-free.
Our restaurant is completely nut-free.
We offer multiple options for vegetarians and vegans.
